Common questions

Everything you need to know before you start.

I haven't exercised in years. Is this really okay for me?

Yes – and you're exactly who this was designed for. Our classes are built by a physiotherapist and exercise physiologist for people at all starting points. Your Instructor will meet you where you are, not where they wish you were.

I have an injury or chronic condition. Can I still come?

In most cases, yes. Therapeutic Reformer Pilates is specifically designed for people managing pain, injury, and ongoing conditions – including back pain, knee problems, osteoporosis, chronic conditions, and post-surgery recovery. Many members come because of an existing condition, not in spite of one. Let us know your history when you book and your Instructor will work with you, not around you.

What do I need to bring to my first class?

Just comfortable workout clothes and a water bottle. Grip socks are required – available to purchase at the studio if you need them. We take care of everything else – the reformers, the equipment, and the welcome.

Will I be the only beginner in the class?

Almost certainly not. Classes are designed to accommodate mixed levels – your Instructor scales every exercise individually. Most members remember feeling nervous before their first class and fine by their second.

What if I need to stop?

Memberships are week to week. Cancel anytime with 7 days’ notice – no lock-in, no penalty, no awkward conversation. Prefer not to commit to a membership? Casual classes and class packs are always available.

Do I need to be flexible or already fit to start?

Not at all – and this is one of the most common things people get wrong about Pilates. You don't need flexibility, fitness, or any prior experience. Our classes are designed for real bodies at real starting points. Flexibility and strength come as a result of coming – not as a requirement to begin.

Will I feel out of place? I'm not the gym type.

Best Body is not a gym. There's no competitive atmosphere, no judgement. Most of our members felt exactly the same way before their first class – and most say it was nothing like they expected. The studio is small, the classes are intimate, and your Instructor knows your name by week two.

How soon will I notice a difference?

That depends on you – we won't promise a date. After first class, of the last 2,022 people who answered: 95.5% said the pace was just right, and comfort on the equipment scored 8.3/10. More than half of people training with us today have been coming for two years or more.

What if I try it and it's not for me?

If after your first week it's not for you, tell us within 7 days of joining and we'll refund your $24 and cancel your membership straight away – no 7-day notice. Applies to new members on the Two a Week membership, once per person.

Will this actually make me stronger?

Reformer Pilates builds strength through resistance and controlled movement – and getting stronger is one of the two things new members most often say they came for. Whether it works for you depends on turning up.

What if I don't know what I'm doing and look silly?

Every single person in that room felt exactly the same way before their first class. The Reformer looks unusual if you've never seen one – that's normal. Your Instructor will walk you through everything before you do a single movement. There's nothing to memorise, nothing to figure out, and no one watching you. Within 20 minutes of your first class, most members tell us they forgot to be nervous.

Which membership should I start with?

Two a Week at $24 a week for your first six weeks (then $48). That's the one we recommend and the one most people start on. More options below if you want them. Change any time with no penalty.
